Who this covers

This policy describes how the software application "Shorts Uploader" handles data. The application is an internal tool used by the owner of the YouTube channel Why We Do That to prepare, schedule and publish that channel's own videos, and to read that channel's own performance statistics.

The application has one user: the channel owner. It is not distributed, sold or made available to anyone else, and it does not collect data from visitors, viewers or third parties.

What the application accesses

With the channel owner's explicit consent, given through Google's standard sign-in screen, the application requests access to the following:

• Uploading videos to YouTube (youtube.upload) — used to publish video files the owner has produced and approved.
• Reading YouTube account information (youtube.readonly) — used to confirm which channel is connected and to list the channel's own videos.
• Reading YouTube Analytics (yt-analytics.readonly) — used to retrieve view counts, watch time and retention for the channel's own videos, so the owner can see which videos performed well.

The application does not request access to any other Google service, and it cannot access data belonging to any other YouTube channel or Google account.

Where the data is stored

All data stays on the channel owner's own computer. Specifically:

• The authorisation token issued by Google is stored in a single file on that computer, readable only by the owner's user account.
• Video files, scripts and statistics are stored in a folder on that same computer.

There is no server, no database and no cloud storage operated by this application. No data is transmitted anywhere except directly between the owner's computer and Google's own APIs.

What is not done with the data

• Data is never sold, rented or shared with third parties.
• Data is never used for advertising, profiling or any purpose beyond operating the channel.
• No data from other people is collected, because the application has no other users.
• Google user data is not used to train, develop or improve any generalised artificial-intelligence or machine-learning model.

Limited Use

This application's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Retention and deletion

The authorisation token is kept only as long as the application is in use, and is deleted when the owner deletes the token file or revokes access. Statistics retrieved from YouTube Analytics are kept on the owner's computer for as long as they are useful and can be deleted at any time by deleting the folder.

Revoking access

Access can be withdrawn at any time from the Google Account permissions page at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Revoking access immediately stops the application from reaching any Google service.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date at the top.
